Fundraising

Latest news:

At the moment, the Kerala Link fundraising arm has been suspended while Kerala Link UK is being wound up and the new Kerala Link India is being registered. We have written to all regular donors advising them of the changes at Kerala Link and asking them to suspend their regular contributions.

Kerala Link UK is transferring all available funds to Kerala Link India as a start-up fund from which they can immediately start funding projects within our two partner organisations.

The new Kerala Link India trust hopes to reinstate regular donorship from international donors as soon as the trust is able to accept foreign contributions. Please check back to this page for updated information on our fundraising program.

Kerala Link has been involved in donating equipment and raising money for Jyothis Special School since 2001.

Over the years, we have raised money in 3 main ways:

  • Regular donations
  • Direct fundraising activities
  • Application for grants for specific purposes

Regular donations

The Kerala Link regular donor program was started in 2002, originally as a child sponsorship scheme, to provide regular income to directly benefit students and staff and Jyothis School.

A few years later, we also started helping with funding applications from the Women's Centre.

Each centre could apply for the centrally held funds we accumulated and we donated where we thought the need wass greatest at the time.

Direct fundraising activities

A small team of dedicated volunteers have staged a number of events over past years to help in whatever small way they could: the proceeds from sponsored marathons, car boot sales, charity stalls and Christmas card sales have contributed to Kerala Link funds over the years.

In 2007 Kerala Link, with the help of all its sponsors, donors and supporters succeeded in raising the  £9000 needed for a new school bus.

Application for grants for specific purposes

In February 2006 Kerala Link was successful in securing a grant from the Hope for Children Trust in India for  £1500 to build a play park at Jyothis School. The children think it's just great!
