Accommodation

At each placement, Kerala Link volunteers live in a self-contained apartment above a family home. Access to the apartment is through a common courtyard. There is a local family living downstairs that you will find very friendly and accommodating. The building is set within a lovely garden of coconut, mango, banana, papaya and other trees.

Each apartment is basically furnished and comprises a main living area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a shower room with western toilet.

The apartment has electricity, ceiling fans and running water. (Please note power cuts are common.)

The accommodation is self-catering: there is a bottled-gas stove, fridge, cutlery, crockery and cooking implements. Local shops and stalls are a short walk away and sell a wide variety of provisions.

If, however, you don't fancy the idea of cooking every meal for yourself, there are several restaurants and snack shops in town selling good, cheap food.

If you are not already travelling with someone, you may be sharing this accommodation with a second volunteer.

A mobile phone is provided for volunteers' use.
