- You have skills in arts, crafts, music, games, dance or sports.
- You are flexible, tolerant and imaginative.
- You work well with others.
- You are a single female, a married couple or a family. (Women only for the Women's Centre placement)
- You can commit yourself to a minimum of three months at Jyothis school or 6 weeks at the Women's Centre.
- You are prepared to learn the basics of the local language.
- You are able to provide appropriate references.
- You agree to submit to a CRB check (or equivalent if from outside UK).
- You want time to be able to travel around the beautiful state that is Kerala.
- You want to work for a small charity, not a big business.
- You don't want to pay the much higher prices charged by the big volunteering businesses but are happy to contribute to your expenses.
- You want a well-structured, yet personal feel to your placement.
